NASHVILLE -- Carter Hutton finished off his stellar week with another good performance. Hutton made 36 saves to lead the Nashville Predators to a 3-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night. Eric Nystrom, Roman Josi, and Viktor Stalberg scored for Nashville, which has won three straight. Making his third consecutive start, Hutton stopped eight in the first, 10 in the second, and 18 in the third. "They are a pretty solid team, and they are going to get their chances," Hutton said. "We kind of bent, but we didnt break. We weathered the storm and held on for a big two points." Earlier this week, Hutton backstopped the Predators to wins Tuesday in New York against the Rangers and Thursday at home against Dallas. He ended the week with a 3-0-0 record, stopping 97 of the 101 shots he faced. Dan Boyle and Patrick Marleau scored for San Jose, losers of five of their past six. Nystrom scored the games first goal at 16:04 of the opening period. From above the left faceoff circle, Predators defenceman Victor Bartley sent a wrist shot toward the San Jose goal. The puck deflected off Nystroms leg, then his stick and into the net for his sixth goal of the season. Nystrom is just one goal off the Nashville team lead. Entering Saturday, San Jose had outscored opponents 42-14 in the first period this season. Nashville is 12-0-1 when leading after one period this season. Josi doubled the Nashville lead at 18:08 of the second. With the Predators on a power play, Craig Smith had the puck below the San Jose goal line. He found Josi all alone at the centre of the blue line, and the Swiss defenceman skated into the slot and beat Sharks goaltender Antti Niemi with a wrist shot high to the glove side. "We had a great battle in the corner, I think there four of their guys against our three guys, and we won the puck," Josi said. "That was huge and (Smith) made a great play to me." The Sharks had not allowed a power-play goal in their previous four games. "Every game we play it seems the team that wins the special teams play, wins the game," San Jose captain Joe Thornton said. "Tonight they got the one power-play goal and we didnt, and thats basically what the NHL comes down to right now, who is better on special teams." San Jose got on the board at 7:28 of the third when Boyle redirected Matt Irwins shot from the high slot past Hutton for his sixth of the season. "We werent nearly aggressive enough," San Jose coach Todd McLellan said. "Its amazing, in the third when we played on the inside a little bit more, we got more second chances, kept the forecheck alive, we were a much different team. Im a bit disappointed in the first period and a half to two periods." Nashville regained its two-goal lead at 17:21 of the third when Stalberg carried the puck down the left side and beat Niemi with a wrist shot from above the left faceoff dot. "That was huge," Nashville coach Barry Trotz said. "That ended up being a real important goal, the game-winning goal." Marleau drew the Sharks within one with 54.6 seconds remaining in the third when he tipped home a nice pass from Boyle. Notes: Josi has points in four consecutive games. ... Smith returned to the Nashville lineup after missing the past three with flu-like symptoms. ... Boyle leads Sharks defencemen with 17 points this season. Adam Jones Jersey . Leave it to Matt Niskanen, the newly proclaimed Eddie Haskell of the Washington Capitals. Baltimore Orioles Jerseys . Bryant underwent an operation in December to correct an irregular heartbeat. His season ended with four games left because of a rapid heartbeat, a condition he has known about for several years and had been treated for in the past. http://www.theoriolesteamshop.com/Orioles-Jim-Palmer-Kids-Jersey/ . Hall joined Bengals teammates for a voluntary workout on Monday. Hes got his mobility back and is on schedule to be ready for the season. CINCINNATI - Bengals cornerback Leon Hall is happy with his recovery from a torn Achilles tendon and expects to be ready for the start of training camp in July. Tim Beckham Jersey . - Pete Rose didnt want it to be about him, not on a day when four new members were elected to baseballs most exclusive club. Roberto Alomar Jersey . -- Top-seed Shahar Peer and Canadian Eugenie Bouchard advanced to the second round of the inaugural WTA Citi Open.FIVE QUICK NBA THOUGHTS: 1. ANDREW BOGUT (Warriors): He has begun talks on a contract extension with the Warriors with his contract expiring at the end of the season. Considering that he missed 50 of 82 games last year and has experienced injury issues in the past, Id say its a good idea for the Warriors to move in a cautious fashion. Dont get me wrong; when healthy this guy is a very good player and the injuries are no fault of his own, just some tough breaks. Hes a diligent worker and excellent team guy who can really pass, rebound and block shots. When hes right hes an intriguing guy in the post. Bogut understands the concerns and will have to be open to some degree of discussion with the Warriors, or anyone else this upcoming summer, to have Games Played incentives as part of a future deal. Bottom line, if he has a healthy/productive year it limits his exposure to a heavy-handed contract with incentives. Staying healthy, easier said than done. 2. MYCK KABONGO (Spurs): Kabongo was released by the Spurs; what a fall it has been the past few years for the undrafted Toronto native out of the University of Texas. The missed time from the NCAA suspension hurt his development. Its a humbling time but also an opportunity to truly look at his game and improve his shooting, decision making, and defence. All he has to do is look at a guy like Danny Green, who was briefly a teammate in San Antonio, to know that you could be down for a while but if you have the desire to improve and tighten your game another knock at the door will come. Be ready for it. Head to the D-League or Europe, get better, and bounce back. Its a temporary setback, nothing fatal. He still has lots of talent, figure it out. 3. TREY BURKE (Jazz): Burke is likely out with a finger injury for the next six weeks. Its a tough blow for the ninth-overall pick out of Michigan. He had a tough time at the Las Vegas Summer League and training camp and preseason games were critical for him to get on the right path. I loved his smarts and savvy foor the Wolverines, he is an excellent distance shooter who makes others better.ddddddddddddHe doesnt have great burst to get into the seams of a defence but finds a way to effectively run an offence. What he needed was the trial and error of the October and November experience to grow. It wont be easy for him to jump on the moving train when he gets back at that position. Patience is required here. 4. ANTHONY BENNETT (Cavs): Its nice to see him back on the court after coming back from surgery. Im intrigued by how he will transition to the pros. Hes kind of a “tweener” (3/4) who can shoot the three and has a sweet face up game yet has enough interior craftiness to get his game off in the lane. His conditioning and defence will be the key to his development. Hes a guy that will have some learning scenarios at both positions so he really needs to be in terrific shape, be locked in to Mike Browns defensive schemes, and get after it from a competitive sense. There is solid competition at both spots for him so minutes wont just be thrown his way so I think this is a pretty good starting point for him. Overall, being back on the court allows him to figure it all out in live action and thats how you learn. 5. ANDRAY BLATCHE (Nets): This young man has a lot of talent yet when you watch him you always think to yourself hes only going at 75-80 percent of his potential. I cant wait to see how Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry, who are proud men who know what winning basketball and effort are all about deal with him. Having a guy like Jason Kidd as his coach, who brought an incredible blue collar effort and productivity to practice and games as a player, will be another good perspective for him. Environment does effect and this is a guy who has a lot more to give; you have to find a way to reach him. The dynamics are in place to do that. Im fascinated to see if these guys can get that other 20 to 25 percent out of him. If they do, watch out. Ultimately, its on him. How good do you want to be?
